This Privacy Notice is intended to describe the practices Ernst & Young AG, Maagplatz 1, 8005 Zurich, Switzerland ("EY" or “we”) follows in relation to the data processed via this website and its associated content management system (“Digital Nations”) with respect to the privacy of all individuals whose personal information is processed and stored in Digital Nations. At EY, we have focused on implementing fair information practices that are designed to protect your privacy and your personal data. We believe that everyone benefits from the free flow of information when that information is gathered and used responsibly and transparently.

The circumstances in which we collect and process information from you in Digital Nations are as follows:

Who manages Digital Nations?

EY is a separate legal entity of the international network of EY member firms EYG member firms, and each of which can act as a data controller in its own right. EY is acting as data controller by providing Digital Nations on which your information will be processed and stored. The information you provide in Digital Nations may be shared by EY with other EYG member firms around the world (see 'Who can access your data’ section below).

EY has engaged EY Sweeney, which is located at 8 Exhibition Street, Melbourne, Victoria, 3000, Australia, to provide Digital Nations, and EY Sweeney will manage Digital Nations on EY’s behalf. 

Digital Nations is hosted by Interactive, a third party hosting provider, on servers that are located in Melbourne, Australia.

What type of personal information is processed in Digital Nations?

The personal information collected and processed in Digital Nations includes your name, email address, company name and location data.

How EY collects your data via Digital Nations

EY requires registration before material on Digital Nations (studies, reports, survey analyses and brochures, etc.) is made available to you. When registering for Digital Nations, personal data as stated above is requested.

Who can access your information and for what purpose?

Your personal information is processed in Digital Nations and flows into a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database in order to provide you with the reports you have requested, to inform you continuously about events, research and services of EY and to liaise with you in order to discuss your business needs. In addition, you authorize us to transmit such information to third parties for the compilation of typical market statistics

Your personal information may be accessed in Digital Nations, and in the CRM if applicable, by the following persons:

  1. Dedicated EY Swiss employees, located in Switzerland, and employees of other EY member firms to provide you with publications and newsletters and to liaise with you.
  2. EY Sweeney (the system Vendor) - a dedicated team of ten EY Sweeney employees who are located in Australia have full access to all data within the backend administration area of Digital Nations.
  3. Our third party hosting provider, Interactive - One dedicated account manager located in Melbourne, Australia has access to Digital Nations servers for IT support and hosting/storage purposes.

EY will process your personal information in in accordance with applicable law and professional regulations in your jurisdiction. EY has a comprehensive global privacy compliance program which includes EU approved Binding Corporate Rules and will only disclose your personal information to third parties that have agreed in writing to provide an adequate level of privacy protection. The access rights detailed above may involve the transfer of personal information in various jurisdictions (including jurisdictions outside the European Union) in which EY and any of them operate (EY office locations are listed at www.EY.com).

Webtrends Analytics of Webtrends Inc. (hereinafter "Webtrends") uses cookies. The information generated by the cookie about the use of this website is generally transmitted to and stored by Webtrends on a server located in the United States. The user’s IP address will be truncated directly on the user’s computer. The transmission and storage of the IP address occurs in such an anonymized manner. On behalf of EY, Webtrends will use this information for the purpose of evaluating the use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services to EY relating to website activity and internet usage. Neither EY nor Webtrends will associate the collected data with any other data stored by EY or Webtrends. The placement of cookies may be disabled by selecting the appropriate settings on the user’s browser. EY would like to point out that in such case the user may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. Furthermore the user can prevent Webtrendr. collection and use of data (incl. Google Analytics

The website ey.com uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics also uses cookies. The information created by the cookie about your use of this website (including your IP address) is transmitted and stored on a Google server in the US. Google will use this information to analyze your use of the website, to compile reports about website activities for website operators and to provide other services associated with the use of the website and the use of the internet. Where applicable, Google will also transmit this information to third parties, if this is legally required or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google. Google will in no case connect your IP address with other Google data. You can prevent the installation of cookies by making the corresponding setting in your browser. We use the "new" Google tracking code with the _anonymizeIp() function. With this, your IP address is no longer transmitted completely. The last three digits are transmitted anonymously. For example, your IP address will look like this: 103.125.38.***. As a result, it is no longer possible to assign IP addresses directly to individuals, thus ensuring data protection. You can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics with future effect by installing the deactivation add-on (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de) for your browser.

Data Retention

Upon request we will inform you what personal information we are holding about you in Digital Nations and the CRM. Should you require your information be updated, amended or deleted from Digital Nations and the CRM, please update your profile or contact your usual EY representative outlining your requirements.

If your details have to be updated or amended or should be deleted from our documents, please contact us with your request at any time.

Sensitive personal data

EY does not intentionally collect any sensitive information from you via Digital Nations.

Access, rectification and opposition

Data protection laws operating in many countries around the world provide certain rights to data subjects. You are entitled in most instances to access and obtain a copy of your personal information which EY processes in EY applications such as Digital Nations. You may request EY to have your personal information corrected if your information is inaccurate. You may request EY to have your information deleted if EY is not processing your information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations operating in your country.

EY has implemented accepted standards of technical measures and security policies that are designed to protect the personal information processed via Digital Nations which it has under its control from unauthorized access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorized modification and unlawful destruction or accidental loss.

Changes to this policy

If necessary, EY may change this data protection statement. If changes to the statement are made, it can take up to 30 business days before the new data protection procedure is in place. Please visit this page regularly to learn about any changes.
